Walk Your Way To A Better You with Nordic Walking Poles

Most people tend to focus on one activity or type of exercise and think they’re doing enough. The goal, however, is to be creative and choose all four types of exercise – Endurance, Strength, Balance and Flexibility – that gives you a complete “Full Body Workout”.

Nordic Pole Walking includes all four types in one simple walking exercise that can be worked into anyone’s busy schedule.

Nordic Pole Walking engages up to 90% of your body muscles compared to 40-60% with regular walking. It also relieves 26% stress off your lower back, hips, knees and ankles because it redistributes the stress equally throughout your body, not just into your lower back and legs.

Nordic Pole Walking provides twice the health benefits as regular walking in half the time. It is a Full Body Aerobic Resistance Exercise creating a cross motor function benefit, all in one walking exercise. Anyone of any age even with disabilities who can walk can participate.

The more muscle engagement during exercise, the more calories and glucose you burn. (Individual rates depend on body composition and fitness). Example: Calorie Burning per hour: Nordic Pole walking, 600-900 Kcal compared to Regular Walking, only 240 Kcal.

Biography

Dr. Gerred Popejoy, Sports Medicine

GERRED POPEJOY, D.C. is the founder of Nordic Walking Nations, a wellness program for people of all ages using Nordic Walking Poles. He had one of the largest lifestyle integrated clinics in California and was in sports medicine treating a lot of famous sports people. He retired early and happened to be in Europe where he found out that Nordic Walking had been applied to what we call an outdoor application. It was created by the cross-country skiers from Finland who wanted a way to stay in shape during off season.

He realized, as a doctor in sports medicine, that even with 300 to 400 medical studies, no one has applied a medical application. So, he thought, since he’s retired and missed treating patients, but didn’t really want to go back practicing — he realized this will be his passion.

Dr. Popejoy came back to the United States and spent several years creating the medical application to rehabilitation. He soon realized this is for everyone. It’s like a family affair. We’ve got kids and we’ve got just the average person, and some who are obese. So, he spent almost 3 years creating numerous programs and exercises for nearly all ages and health conditions.

He’s been getting an incredible response from everyone who tries this. He could talk for 2 hours, and it would sound too good to be true, but as soon as he put a set of poles in someone’s hands within 3 to 4 minutes, they say this really works! That’s because It’s like doing five exercises in one and in 15 minutes they’re getting the benefit as if they’ve been swimming for a half hour.

They immediately feel their whole body getting involved. They are going from a 45% muscle involvement with normal walking into a 90% muscle involvement, creating resistant cross motor function, generating new neurological pathways, getting better posture, stimulation in developing paraspinal muscles, and at the same time as you move forward, there is a reduction of 30% of pressure off hips, knees, and ankles.

It’s easy to understand why Nordic Pole Walking has become so popular around the world today. Even though it is a low-impact exercise, it has maximum Health Benefits that are proven with over 350 Medical studies. Plus, it’s the New Sporty Look for Seniors!
