CHRISTINE HORNER, M.D., F.A.C.S. received her Medical Degree at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed a General Surgery Residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati and a Plastic Surgery Residency at Indiana University in Bloomington. Dr. Horner is Board Certified in both General and Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Horner is now a nationally recognized surgeon, author, and a relentless champion for women’s health. In the late 90’s Dr. Horner spearheaded a national campaign to pass laws requiring insurance companies to pay for breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Her five-year effort led to laws in thirty-five states and a federal law passed by Congress on October 21, 1998.
Dr. Horner helped to create and then hosted the first ever syndicated television news segment exclusively focused on Complementary and Alternative Medicine and natural approaches to staying healthy. In 2001, the segment was syndicated on the WISDOM Television Network, reaching 5.5 million households.
Her recently released book Waking The Warrior Goddess: Dr. Christine Horner’s Program to Protect Against and Fight Breast Cancer presents a simple 30-step program to help women incorporate healthy lifestyle changes.
Using the metaphor of the Warrior Goddess, this book explains something that Ayurveda describes as our “inner healing intelligence.” Besides getting plenty of rest and exercise, it also explores the various foods and supplements that can enable women to successfully fight breast cancer and claim the healthy body that should be theirs. Dr. Horner tells readers what to avoid and what to embrace, what will poison the Warrior Goddess and what will feed her and what she needs to thrive.
