JOHN JACOB CANNELL, M.D., completed his undergraduate work in Zoology with a Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland in College Park. He then graduated from Medical School at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and completed his Internship in General Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and his Residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Dr. Cannell is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and he is a Physician with 30 years of experience in General Medicine. One of his first positions was working in the coal fields of the Mountains of Appalachia as a General Practitioner.
In 1983, he founded Cannell Clinic, Inc., in West Virginia, which funded a prominent anti-smoking campaign - that reached the pages of the New York Times - to change the chronic smoking habits of coal miners.
In the late 1990s, Dr. Cannell began working as a Psychiatrist at Atascadero State Hospital, which reawakened his interest in Clinical Nutrition. His nutritional studies led to several discoveries about the overlooked need for Vitamin D so he created the Vitamin D Council in 2003 to promote the vital need for this common, but little-understood nutrient.
Dr. Cannell is President of the Vitamin D Council, Inc. and may be reached by website www.cholecalciferol-council.com and e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
He will speak on Vitamin D – For Cancer & Other Chronic Diseases.
